From Scotlea Car Owner Rick S.

Scotlea Idol Rods built my dream car, the Knight Rider Two Thousand (KITT).  I had seen a lot of other replicas, and researched exactly what I wanted - and Scotlea delivered in a big way!!!  I've had my car next to several "home-built" replicas and there is no comparision - mine looks like the real thing - every detail is carefully thought out and executed.  The car was flawless and performed above my expectations.  I hope to have Scotlea build my next dream car - the Gone in 60 Seconds "Eleanor".  Trust them - they know what they are doing!!!

I give high marks of excellence to Dr. Patrick Hagerman and his staff at Scotlea Idol Rods.  I am the very proud owner of GL# 12 on his website.  Patrick was always willing to answer any questions I had, and was very patient with me.  That was a huge plus, because I have no mechanical ability at all.  I grew up watching the Dukes, and I always wanted a General Lee.  Thanks to Patrick, I now have a great looking car that runs just as good.  My daughter thinks that having the General is just about "it".  In fact, after we get through another Illinois winter, her kindergarten teacher wants me to bring it to school so the class can sit in it & have pictures taken.  The Charger itself, even without the GL trim, has impressed a lot of folks around here. People that I have shown it to so far think that Patrick did a top-notch job on the engine and body.  I already have the General booked for a wedding in Nov., and another possible one this summer, and we're barely into the new year!  Meeting Patrick & his wife in person was also a nice experience, as both are just very nice people to talk to.    All in all, I wish to thank Patrick and his staff for making wishful thinking an affordable possibility.  I would not hesitate to recommend him to someone wanting a General of their own.

From another Scotlea Car Owner

I am the proud owner of General Lee #15 built by Patrick Hagerman and his team at Scotlea Idol Rods. I just want to say, the car has been everything Patrick promised it would be. It looks awesome and it runs like a dream. I couldn't have wished for anything better. It gets attention everywhere I go, as should be expected. Just in the very short time I've had the car, I've already had several people stopping by my house just to take a look at it (if you're considering buying a General Lee, be prepared for that any time you leave your garage open). I get honks and waves and compliments from people on the road, and it's well deserved. Scotlea Idol Rods did a phenomenal job with this machine! Patrick was very patient through the entire process and was also extremely helpful since this is the first time I've owned this kind of car. He is very thorough and has an extensive knowledge of these Chargers, and it shows in his workmanship. He will not overlook a single detail. If you want a General Lee of your own, and you want it done right, look no further than Scotlea Idol Rods. You will NOT be disappointed!

Scotlea Idol Rods make dreams come true.....

Today my dream came true! Having purchased an A-team replica van from Scotlea Idol Rods in the USA , I couldn’t have ever imagined owning such a piece of work. Firstly "the van" is exact in every detail, the correct paint job, correct wheels, even the correct exhaust system some people seem to over look when building a replica. The van sounds awesome, the interior has the correct captains chairs and c.b radio, minus the military issue M16's. The van looks exactly as it should, this is the only van of its kind here in Ireland and I’m so proud to own such a master-piece. Secondly "the service", obviously when buying something from abroad you have to take a chance, but looking at the work completed by the people at Scotlea Idol Rods I knew that I was in good hands. All my questions were answered and the deal went very smoothly with great communication. So if your in a position to be as fortunate as me, then let the guys at Scotlea Idol Rods make your dreams come true......thanks Bryan O.

From Dierk and Amy - owners of General Lee #17

Are you ready to stop talking about getting a General Lee and actually do it? Then Scotlea Idol Rods is the place to call. They don't just build General Lees, they are a full-on restoration shop. Every aspect of the car is gone through, which is not the case with a lot of builders that only fix what's wrong. A lot of people talk about paint jobs, engines and transmissions. While these are the three biggies that everyone notices about your car, it's all the other stuff that makes the difference in reliability, safety and just flat out having a nice car. Patrick always goes to the quality side of a decision, so if you're confused all you have to do is listen to his explanation, which he will explain so that anyone could understand. On-time and professional, I was given a date and the car was ready12 days early. If you go out and look at your car, I mean everything - get under it and think about everything taken off, that's a lot of work. Even Hot Rod magazine says it takes an average of four years to actually finish a car yourself, much less the guys that spend a decade plus. If you want a car to drive with your family and make memories just do it. If you wonder about price, do some research. I did, we're a single income family with two kids so we watch what we spend and we had no complaints. Make yourself a list of exactly what you want, and again I'm not talking about paint and engine because these are pretty straight up to figure out. Look at each system, for example the brakes. Scotlea goes beyond what the simple items like new brake shoes, and actually replaces everything: shoes ,rooters, drums, wheel cylinders, flexible lines, hard lines, proportioning valve, master cylinder. Now do this for every component on the car and come up with a price. Keep in mind it's on a car you've probably never taken apart before, so include tools you don't have and learning curves. His shop rate and experience are higher than others, but are well worth his price. In conclusion compare apples to apples, not just what the car looks like - a restoration shop will outperform a paint-and-make-run shop anyday. If you have questions for me, ask Patrick for my contact information. Happy owners GL17 Dierk and Amy!!!
