1969 Dodge Charger

Project: Scotlea General Lee

Scotlea Idol Rods needed to have a General Lee to showcase all that we were capable of, plus we just really like to have a totally radical car unlike any other. As you can see below, there wasn't much to start with:

Before pictures:

It took almost a year, but the results were well worth the wait. The outside of the car is essentially unchanged from the basic General Lee look - 75 Corvette Flame Red paint, decals under 10 coats of clear, and highly polished. The wheels are original 10-spoke vectors that have been polished and powdercoated for a great look.

Inside, we took great liberties and installed some serious custom components. The entire dash cluster is custom made with a carbon fiber backing, Ultralite II gauges, Alpine stereo, Vintage Air AC system controls, and relocated ignition, lights, and wiper switches. The custom console contains the B&M Megashifter and roll-control switch, power window switches, and armrest console - all built with carbon fiber and matching vinyl upholstery. The seat inserts were removed and replaced with a light tan suede for a custom look and comfortable feel. The six-point rollbar is real - welded to the frame to assist in structural integrity. Power windows and door locks add to the modern comforts that make this ride fun to drive.

Under the hood, the 440HP block has been stuffed with lots of goodies so that it puts out well over 500 horsepower. The dual Edelbrock carbs top off this killer setup - and the custom cold-air intake system keeps the engine supplied with fresh air. To stop this bad-boy, SSBC disc brakes all around are controled by a Hydroboost braking system. Lots of custom touches here and there make this one fun to look at engine.

You can't see it, but the underside of this car is just as beautiful as the top. The entire undercarriage was painted grey and black to highlight the floorpans and framerails. The Addco front and rear sway bars help the subframe connectors keep this car flat in the corners. QA1 adjustable shocks at all four corners allow easy tuning for different conditions. The 8.75 rear end has been reinforced and holds 3.55 gears.

There are lots of custom touches everywhere, and there are more to come. Keep tuned for the latest updates as this ride receives every new part we can think of!
