The Knight Industries Two Thousand (K.I.T.T.)
was undoubtedly the star of the television show "Knight Rider". KITT was
designed to be an indestructible car with more cool gadgets and features than
any car ever seen before, or even since the show went off the air.
KITT is based on the 82-84 Pontiac Firebird,
which are easily found in most parts of the country. What makes KITT special is
the front nose piece with the red scanner light, the special wheels and hubcaps,
and of course, the totally cool interior and dash with more buttons than you
could ever use. There are several versions of the KITT replica running around
the streets. Many are "façade" replicas that only look like KITT on the outside
because that part is relatively easy and inexpensive. For the true replica, you
have to go with the full interior treatment – dash, steering wheel, overhead and
armrest compartments, and all the neat electronic gadgets.
Like all our replicas, how far and how accurate
